The Rocking Chair

I was reading an article recently in Adoptive Families magazine about a rocking chair. It talked about the significance of the chair in this family's nursery to their overall journey & now that their son was 4 & almost too old to be rocked, it brought a little sadness to them. It brought a tear to my eye as we have a chair in the nursery that has been a big part of the journey (even before Maddy's coming) and has played such a huge part in our daily routines. This chair was my dad's chair, it's not much to look at, but it comfortable & holds a lot of memories. There have been many tears shed in that chair before her coming & since Maddy has been home we have spent many hours in that chair rocking, reading, & cuddling.

Here is a picture of Maddy in that chair & also a chair that she got from her Great Grandma Julie (that she used as a little girl):

Grandma gave her a rocker just
like that after we came home from
China. Hope you are all doing well!

I'm with ya'. We have a rocker in Hope's room (Ron's grandmother's) as well and I'm already sad about the day when that will move out and a big-girl-bed will move in. YIKES! Time goes by too quickly!

Those photos are so cute! I remember when I was too old to be rocked, (or when my mom said I was too old) and I was sad. We have a glider with an ottoman in Nadia's room.

Don't forget the child rocker you father refinished for you before I brought you home from the hospital. You used it a lot and later used it for your Raggedy Ann & Andy.
